March 2020

YOU can see from the beaming smiles that it’s a job
well done.

Students from Loughborough University helped to paint the Charles Booth Centre, in Thringstone.

The centre is undergoing a revamp which includes knocking through walls to create a new open plan downstairs function space designed to be accessible
to all.

A group of students from Loughborough University’s Outreach Action Team joined centre volunteers came along with 20 students for an afternoon to help us get decorating.

The team worked under the watchful eye of May Chadwick and Lydia Clark-Betts, pictured, front, who are in charge of the centre’s decoration and interior design.

Thanks to the hard work of all volunteers, the centre’s House Lounge – to be renamed the Charles Booth Lounge after the philanthropist who donated the building and land to the community – and the new space downstairs are taking shape.
